Custom Fitting
Often bumpers and trim do not fit properly, either having been replaced through the years or originally not fitting good from the factory. This rear corner piece was one such offender. It did not follow the contour of the body which was original and straight. The left side looked terrific..... now, so does the right!
Making the Part
The front overriders were badly damaged, the left one was beyond repair ( if I say that, you know they were junk! ) These cars came with two different styles, sometimes on the same car! One style was square cornered, the other was beveled. After searching high and low, I was not able to locate a matched set for the front, or a left side beveled one. This is how the factory beveled ones are constructed so in that way it's even authentic. They beveled them up front for grill clearance when the hood opens and closes.
I paint the backside of bumpers in either a matte gray or argent depending on what was used originally. It serves to seal the back of the bumper from the elements and if you see the backside reflected in the paint, it looks presentable and will not reflect light back onto the car.
